I'm writing this with the hope it might guide you a lil if you are going to any island in Malaysia, particularly islands in Terengganu. So basically this post is simply about what to look forward to -- what to pack and what to expect. I would like to highlight the word expect, because the journey there will be long, so it's not exactly pleasant especially for someone who's easily car sick/ sea sick/ air sick (like myself LOL)
So first things first,
Clothes/Weather gear:
□Shirts and shorts (you won't need long pants unless you are having trekking activities)□Underwear (remember to bring extra as they might get wet...)□Swimwear (trunks/ bikinis/ anything you wear to swim)□Sandals□Socks (for cold nights perhaps)□Sport shoes (only if you need it)□Sweater (if your bus decided to go cold mode while you are sleeping)
□Sunglasses/ cap (you don't want to be caught squinting in every picture...)Toiletries/Medications:
□Towels (preferably two. One for bathing, another to cover up yourself after snorkelling/diving/kayaking)□Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel (you can always share this if you want to travel light)□Toothbrush and toothpaste□Lipbalm and lotion/moisturizer/aloe vera gels (you'll need this after hours under the hot sun, unless you don't mind skins cracking)□Sunscreen lotion (at least SPF 50! If it's lesser than that, don't even bother bringing 'em.)□Insect repeller□Comb (my top 1 forgetten item. Hahaha you'll need this as the saltwater will make your hair easily tangled)□Contact lenses (this is especially if you don't want to pay extra RM20-50 for snorkelling goggles with power)Toys and Games:
□Mobile phone, iPad, iPod
(anything to keep you entertained in the bus)□and their chargers □Card games□Volleyball, frisbee disc (to play by the beach during free and easy hahahaha)
□Waterproof camera (if you have one. Or else, some resorts/travel agencies do rent digital cameras with covers for about RM50/day)Miscellaneous/Uncategorized:
□Snacks (to omnomnom whenever you're hungree)□Water bottle□Book (to read while in the bus)□Ear plug (the little spongy thing you can get from Daiso. This is to prevent water from entering your ears or to block out your roommate's snoring noises!)□Inflatable pillows (those U-shaped ones)
□Empty bottle to capture the island's air/sand/sea waterPacking wise, a back pack is enough for a 3-4 days trip. Also, get enough sleep the day before as the journey might wear you out. Although you would be sleeping in the bus, most probably it won't be a quality one. And bathe before you leave your home. Have lotsa fun in the sun and take lotsa pictures! :D And pray for good weather.
